The Himalayan Writers Retreat
Let India inspire your writing
If stimulating the brain helps our writing, then touristy, urban India is a stimulation overdose. But at this retreat, we strive for balance. We'll meet you at the Delhi airport and take you on a day-trip to the Taj Mahal. Then we take you to a surprise - a quiet place in Satkhol Village in the Indian Himalayas, custom built for writers. Up here, you can view peaks 5000 ft taller than Denali as you write. In this serenity, you try to channel India and all its chaotic vibrancy into your writing. You continue to discover a sliver of India everyday, but in a calm, rural setting, with time on hand. Experienced mentors and like-minded writers nourish your writing, as does the popcorn on Bollywood film night. On your way back you re-enter the chaos, and you can choose to see some of Delhi and its history before you are safely dropped back to the airport for your flight home.
The Writer's retreat is for intermediate/advanced writers. The retreat is led by Erika Krouse, and supported by Chetan Mahajan and Vandita Dubey. Retreat details will follow soon. For questions about travel to India, visit our India FAQs page.
